Wesley Adams

Wesley Adams was the original owner of this print, having purchased it soon after his arrival in Oakland. He designed his home in Oakland to be modeled after the Anne Hathaway Cottage.

William Shakespeare

Shakespeare lived here after his marriage to Anne Hathaway.

Wesley Adams: From England to Oakland!

Wesley Adams was a BIG fan of Shakespeare. He loved to read Shakespeare and peppered his conversations with quotes from Shakespearean plays. He purchased this print in 1898 by mail-order to decorate his first Oakland home, and subsequently began designing his new home to resemble the Anne Hathaway Cottage.
